In all his work, Tom strives to ensure that projects fulfil the needs of their end users. He says, “I love seeing something I’ve contributed to being built and used by the community. It’s all about the teamwork and diverse skillsets required to produce good buildings that help the wider society thrive.”

Tom is a confident structural engineer and an expert organiser who enjoys leading multi-disciplinary teams on a wide range of projects including high-rise schemes on constrained sites. He specialises in concrete, steel and cross-laminated timber (CLT) for the residential and commercial sectors. He reveals his favourite projects are “technically complex, requiring strong teamwork and collaboration with stakeholders.”

His current roles cover client liaison, project briefing and strategy, client management team (CMT) assignments and project delivery at all stages from concept to completion. He is a talented designer and project manager, and loves developing creative and sustainable engineering solutions — ideally solutions that tackle present and future societal challenges, such as climate change and economic uncertainty.

Tom works across many sectors including residential, commercial, hotels, masterplans and public projects (hospitals and prisons). He is experienced in running projects on confined or restricted sites where ongoing negotiations with multiple third party asset holders are required.

Tom’s notable London projects include Tottenham Hale — Ferry Island high-rise residential buildings with shared basement on a constrained site and North Island CMT for residential tower on a tight urban site, Wandsworth Gasholder residential redevelopment of gasholder structure with asset protection, Dalston Lane CLT frame hotel set above two levels of concrete frame commercial space with asset protection and party wall negotiation, and Talgarth Road purpose-built concrete frame student accommodation on rail-side site and its adjacent hotel with vibration isolation requirements. Also Daedalus major waterfront regeneration on heritage airbase site in Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire.
